Consumer Horror Stories

'DGCOS are often approached by consumers seeking advice against installers who are not members of the scheme. Many have been left out in the cold when an installation has gone wrong and they found that there was very little protection in place to help them. Below are a few examples.'

Mr Rhodes

“We have around 40 glass panels in the conservatory and 28 of them were scratched. At that point we took advice from legal help lines and trading standards as to how to proceed and it’s only reluctantly that the company replaced the damaged units.”

“There is no way that we would have anything built in the future or repaired that is not done by a DGCOS member. Having been a victim we know the problems that can and do occur and we would simply never, ever take the risk again”
Mrs Thrippleton

“When you get insurance you think you’re going to be covered. If anything goes wrong, that will provide cover for you, but apparently not. If the company goes into liquidation you’ve lost it all which is not on really.”
Mr & Mrs Patterson

“The whole affair has really upset my wife and I. I just can’t believe that they can give you insurance documents pertaining to covering your money which turn out to be pretty worthless really. They just stretched the time limit out and had no intention of doing our conservatory.”
